Honoring the Legacy of Eugene “Gene” Boyd
A founding brother of Boyd Brothers Service, Inc.
Boyd Brothers Service, Inc. was built on hard work, integrity, and family. Today, we honor one of the founding brothers whose life and legacy helped shape who we are.
Eugene “Gene” Boryskewich Boyd was not only a leader within our company, but a devoted husband, father, and family man whose values continue to guide us every day.
The Beginning
Eugene “Gene” Boyd was born on February 18, 1953, in Detroit, Michigan, to Walter and Barbara Boyd. He was the second of five brothers who grew up in Lake Orion together with their parents and their dog, Gunther.
From an early age, he developed a strong sense of curiosity, hands-on skill, and a love for how things work—qualities that would later shape his career in HVAC and building systems.
After studying mechanical engineering, Gene eventually made the move to Florida in the late 1980s, where he joined his brothers as part owner of Boyd Brothers Service. Together, they built not just a company, but a reputation for quality, reliability, and trust throughout Southwest Florida.

A Life Built on Family & Values
As an adult, Gene studied mechanical engineering at a college in Arizona. Back in Michigan, he met the love of his life, Kathleen “Kathy” McCready, in The Backseat—a saloon in Lake Orion and a story they would later enjoy telling.
The two married in 1976 and built a life rooted in partnership, faith, and family. In 1990, they adopted their daughter, Sydney Boyd, who became the center of Gene’s world.
Gene was a loving husband and a devoted father. Whenever possible, he preferred to have his wife by his side. He was deeply involved in Sydney’s life — attending her events, helping with school projects, and encouraging her as she explored new interests.
